From Classroom to Real Work: My Internship Experience at Skybase Innovations

During my BBA at Pokhara College of Management, I got a chance that truly shaped how I look at the professional world: an internship at Skybase Innovations, an exciting tech company right here in Pokhara. It was more than just a checklist for my degree. It was where I saw my classroom knowledge come to life, especially in sales and digital marketing.

Skybase is behind some of Nepal’s rising tech products, Saralway, Baizani, and Bhoklayo, each solving real problems in education, accessories, and food delivery. Getting to work alongside the team building these solutions was both exciting and inspiring.

Week-by-Week Highlights

Week 1: Understanding the Brand & Market

My first week was all about listening, observing, and researching. I was tasked with learning how Skybase positioned its products, especially Baizani (a fashion brand) and Saralway (an institute management system).

I spent hours looking into competitors, figuring out who our customers were, and identifying what kind of marketing could actually work. From customer behavior to tone of voice, it felt like piecing together a puzzle with real business value.

Week 2: Content Creation & Strategy

Once I got the hang of the audience and brand identity, I moved into content creation.

I used Canva to design social media graphics and worked on writing captions that not only sounded catchy but were aligned with how different platforms work. I also got to draft ideas for a performance marketing mini-campaign, which made me feel like I was slowly stepping into the real game.

Week 3: Sales Research & Product Optimization

This week took a turn toward sales. I was asked to explore platforms like Daraz to figure out what kinds of fashion accessories were trending.

I studied top-selling items, read through reviews, compared product visuals, and summarized what worked and what didn’t. I then shared these findings with the Baizani sales team yes, they actually listened to an intern!

I also worked on a separate task for XLNC, researching wholesale plain t-shirt suppliers in Nepal comparing prices, fabrics, and logistics. It felt great to present something practical that could directly support business decisions

Week 4: Planning a Marketing Calendar

In my final week, I got to apply everything I’d learned by designing a performance marketing calendar for Saralway.

I mapped out content ideas, segmented the audience, and planned out a basic email marketing strategy. It was a great way to wrap things up, bringing structure to something as dynamic as marketing.

Life at Skybase: More Than Just Tasks

One of the things I loved most about Skybase was the culture. It never felt like “just work.”

  • We had Friday futsal games that kept the energy up

  • Group hikes that made me feel part of a team

  • Brainstorming sessions where even interns like me were encouraged to speak up

The environment was fast-paced but supportive. People were focused but friendly and always open to sharing knowledge.

What I Took Away from the Internship

  • Marketing with a Purpose
I learned how to mix creativity with real data to make content that connects and converts.

  • Understanding People
Tailoring content for different platforms and people made me realize how important empathy is in marketing.

  • Thinking Like a Researcher
From analyzing product trends to comparing suppliers, I learned how to break down information and find useful insights.

  • Teamwork & Communication
Whether it was sharing ideas in a meeting or messaging a team lead, I became a better communicator—one Slack message at a time.

If You’re an Intern, Here’s My Advice:

  • Be curious :  Don’t just do a task. Ask why it matters.

  • Take initiative : Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you ask for.

  • Be flexible : Especially in tech, things change fast. You’ve got to keep up.

  • Speak up : Your ideas are valid, even if you’re new.

  • Enjoy it : Make memories, not just PowerPoints.

Final Thoughts

My time at Skybase Innovations wasn’t just a line on my resume. It was where I learned how sales, marketing, and tech come together in the real world and how I could be a part of it.

I’m so thankful to the Skybase team for treating me like more than just an intern. They trusted me with real work, gave me feedback, and helped me grow every step of the way.

As I take my next steps, I carry with me not only new skills but a clearer sense of where I want to go next in my career.
